Amazon.com Product Description Ideal for home or recreational use, the Fiskars hatchet with 14-inch handle features a tough, forged steel axe head. The one-piece handle is over molded around the head to prevent loosening and separation. The stay-sharp fully hardened blade comes with a non-stick coating that cuts with less effort and resists rust. The included fiberglass composite handle is lightweight and strong, and the hatchet includes a plastic sheath for easy transportation and safe storage.

Worth the money February 9, 2010 Gary G (Central NJ) I had a cheap hatchet before- never stayed sharp and prone to nicks. This one is light, very sharp and a pleasure to use. So far it has stayed sharp thru a few hours of use (non-continuous). Great value as it is not much more money than the cheap ones sold at discount stores or tool outlets. Have not had to sharpen yet so I am hoping it holds a new edge well.
Quality product January 24, 2010 B. J. Fletcher Quality product, dependable and prompt shipping. Liked it so well, we bought 4 more!
Good balance December 11, 2009 GBooth (Charlotte NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This hatchet has great balance and a fine blade. The workmanship is first-rate. What more does one need, other than a good eye and strong arm?
Work made Fun? Throw away your gym membership! December 7, 2009 M. Rojas (SAn Diego) What a great axe! I had to split about 4 cords of wood so I was going to rent a log splitter to get the job done quickly when I came across this axe. I felt like Paul Bunyan spliting logs in one fell swoop. I was already in shape but using this axe worked out my core better than any ab machine at the gym. My whole body strengh increased after using this axe to cut wood an hour at a time.
Buy this axe and get the sharpener that goes with it. Keep it in shape and it'll keep you in shape.
Ok, but not for splitting hardwood November 5, 2009 Daniel Williams (Los Angeles, CA USA) I agree with most that this is a decent hatchet, light handle and the blade could be harder. It certainly doesn't have the heft or leverage to really split hardwood though. It is handy if you need to notch wood, or cut small limbs off a tree, but keep it away from anything that can dull the blade.
