This hoe is fantastic! Now that I have one, I find myself wondering why I waited so long to get one. I've read about them before and finally decided to try it myself this spring. The hula hoe makes quick work of weeding, especially the garden paths. It is best done when the weeds are small but overall I am very pleased with the performance of this hoe. I asked my husband to be on the lookout for this type of hoe but after he reported no luck I went ahead and ordered the hula hoe from Amazon. Just prior to receiving my hoe, my husband announced he'd bought me one [so much for him sitting there when I told him I was ordering it!] anyway - some reviewers reported needing to sharpen their scuffle hoes. In comparison, the hula hoe is self sharpening and was sharp and effective right out of the box. [My husband had to sharpen the one he bought.]
I have had back issues too and am no longer a spring chicken, the hula hoe has given me hope that I can still keep up with my large garden. Before I was spending so much time weeding paths I could never get to weeding in between my plants! the hula hoe makes short work of weeding paths and even does well cultivating around plants like peppers and tomatoes, leaving more time for the tedious weeding in the lettuce,carrots, onion patches etc. So far my garden is looking great and I am actually receiving compliments from my husband on how great my garden looks this year. the hula hoe has helped put the fun back into gardening. great product!

Today I used this hoe to clear some very hard ground of well-established weeds. I thought I'd be working at it for hours, but the weeds came away so easily I could hardly believe it. I've had this silly looking hoe for over 30 years and it's still the one I reach for. The actual act of using it seems to sharpen it so I've never had to and it's received no special care in all that time.
It is not ideal for every job, but if you're trying to clear away weeds on hard packed ground or cut weeds away beneath the surface of garden soil, you just can't beat it. When I'm trying for a more 'tilled' effect, I use a hoe with tines, but today I wanted to expose ground covered with weeds so I could hack into it with a pickaxe in order to plant a shrub. Having the right tool for the job really makes a difference. It was hot today and being able to finish the whole job in 15 minutes couldn't have been better.
Should this hoe ever break, which it shows no sign of doing, I'm glad I can replace it through Amazon. I also have the hand-held mini-version for weeding my raised vegetable garden and will be using it tomorrow. Very highly recommended.

This hoe makes cleaning up my backyard easy. The only thing I would say is that I wish it were sharper, but I think that about all my tools, so maybe it's just me. It gets the job done with minimal effort. Would definitely recommend!

This is a wonderful product. It is well made and actually works even better than advertised. After years of traditional hoeing, this tool makes quick work of weeding in the garden!
