I had seen this product in outdoor stores for years and always wanted one. I was going on an impromptu camping trip a few months back and a friend asked if I had an axe/hatchet. I decided to get online and order this little guy for the trip. Now I don't mean to say that this isn't a quality product, but it's definitely not what I was expecting it to be. It's heavy duty, yes, but not very sharp at all. The knife could definitely come in handy, but is held in place by a tiny magnet that would no doubt give with any slight excess force. There are obvious flaws in the head of the hatchet metal. Doesn't seem like much time was put into making sure it came out looking nice. There is hardly any handle room for leverage so don't expect this to do you much good if you need to split a few pieces of wood down to smaller sizes for a campfire. It would take you way too much time and effort. I probably should have gone with the larger size that has a saw in the handle. This just didn't do the job.

I bought this hatchet a while back. Its never faild me once, always sharp, always at the ready. Ive used this hatchet for just about everyhing you can do out in the wilderness: chop wood, use it with a pice of flint to make fire, and even as a climbing axe. Overall this little honey can handle everything you throw at it...
The knife is a nice feature, but do not make it your only knife, the magnet that holds in the knife isnt to strong, and i have had the knife fall out 2 times when i was jumping over a creek.
overall, its a good product at a good price.

This is a good product. I love Gerber. I was disappointed to find out that this product was made in Taiwan. Do not use while knife is in handle. Can be dangerous. Magnet is not strong enough to hold knife in during impact. Cool factor ++++.

This combo axe and knife was for a grandson that does a lot of backpacking in the Rockies. It is light and handy for that purpose. Now his dad can turn over the prep of kindling to him..!

I purchased this little gem of a hand axe a few months ago and have had a wonderful time chopping stuff in my yard. The size is good for my wife and the thing is wickedly sharp. It holds the edge quite well and with my accusharp sharpener you can really get the razor edge. Awesome! I'm going to get the little bit bigger one as well. Go Gerber.
