Oil Rubbed Bronze? Outdoor Firebowl July 29, 2010 Erick E. Imagine the liability of importing or manufacturing poor quality fire pits? Cheap materials will eventually degrade, break, rust, add the stress caused by heat and these cheap products are a disaster waiting to happen. Would you risk losing your home to a fire?
I guarantee, someone will be calling their lawyer when they have a house fire or neighborhood fire due to poor quality fire pits with "too thin" of a metal structure.
I guess anything to make a buck, right? WRONG. How much are you willing to risk? I believe it pays to buy quality products made with solid materials, and preferably buy Made in USA.
A very experienced Metalworker.
ADDITIONALLY, I can tell from experience this is not Oil Rubbed Bronze. It is a painted finish. Most likely powder coating. It probably really is "Oil Rubbed Bronze............Color"
Powder coatings are named or numbered to reference their color. "Oil Rubbed Bronze" is possibly the color name of the powder coating color which the seller is inferring that the metal in the product is actually Bronze.
As you can see this mis-representation is irritating to me. By the way "TRUE BRONZE METAL IS AN ALLOY OF COPPER AND TIN....IT WON'T RUST" thin sheet metal certainly will rust quickly when exposed to HEAT/FIRE/MOISTURE/COLD.
PLEASE USE CAUTION, YOU MAY HAVE A LOT TO LOSE.
great backyard firepit July 10, 2010 firebowl mom We love our Blue Rhino firebowl. It is really deep which allows for a safe, larger fire. Other firebowls are too shallow and the flames are too close to the kids. Blue Rhino is perfect for roasting marshmallows with it's rounded edges and outer rail to keep you away from the hot flame. This firebowl looks great outside as it's bronzed decorative design compliments many outdoor patio sets.
Love it!! June 17, 2010 Teah J. Clement We absolutely love this firebowl. We use it at least two or three time a week. I would highly recommend buying it, at this point. We have only had it for about a month so I cannot tell you how it holds up in the long run. It seems to be pretty sturdy and durable. It looks really nice too.
Look around... June 14, 2010 Luke C. Schmidt (Minnesota) I just bought this at my local Menard's, a midwest home store. $99 and it comes with a cover. Not the same name, but the exact same item. I like it alot so far. Easy setup and works as advertised... So, 3 stars for price, 5 for product...
one size fits all June 8, 2010 JustCallMeBee (Colonie, NY USA) I really like this fire pit because it it big enough to make a nice size fire using the same wood we use in the wood stove during the winter. But of course you can make a smaller fire if you don't want it to last too long! The only criticism is that the top started to show rust the first time it was exposed to moisture. Strange since one would expect an outdoor fire pit to be exposed to some moisture at some point! I plan to get a spray can of the paint we use to touch up our wood stove soon. Love the design and color. Would have been nice if it came with a "poker" to lift the lid off like some do. Over all seems to be good quality and as I said I love the size.
