5 out of 5 stars A flag of peace and beauty   April 27, 2008

Before I decided to order this flag, I had no idea what it looked like. It is extraordinarily beautiful. After it arrived, I googled flag of Tibet and learned that the origins of the flag go back over one thousand years, based on the banners of military groups. A previous Dalai Lama merged those competing symbols of war into a single standard representing a peaceful and unified Tibet. I am especially proud to display this beautiful flag outside my house whenever the spirit moves me, but particularly in these difficult times for Tibet.

It is my strong belief that we should honor and give primacy to the culture, traditions, language and believe of native peoples in their native lands. I believed this when lived in northern Arizona in the Navajo Nation in the 1950's, I believed this when I visited the highlands of Papua Niugini in the 1980's. I hope I can soon visit a Tibet where the indigenous people maintain their lives, cities, villages and lands in their own unique and invaluable way.
